The PSI unit is responsible for the preparation of misdemeanor and felony pre-sentence investigation reports as ordered by the Johnson County District Court and in accordance with the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines (available on the Kansas Sentencing Commission's website). PSI writers are responsible for determining statutory sentencing ranges and applying special rules of sentencing. These reports include:
- a complete compilation of the defendant’s criminal history,
- comments from victims concerning sentencing and restitution and
- an assessment of appropriate conditions should the defendant be placed on probation supervision.
